 The Department of Chemistry at St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2018. Ph.D. with specialization in organic chemistry required; ABD considered with expected completion by start date of appointment. This position requires the ability to teach organic chemistry lecture and lab for primarily chemistry and biology majors. The successful candidate will also teach a one semester course in general, organic, and biological chemistry and/or assist with lecture and labs in our regular two-semester general chemistry sequence, as well as demonstrate a willingness to teach in multiple delivery forms. Other responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate research, student advising, and service to the university community. Job Title: Senior Chemist              Location: Romulus, MI

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, advanced degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of related professional experience
  • Experience must include: 3 years of developing and testing adhesives or other bonding material used in glass, 5 years of experience in development and product launch, and at least 3 years of supervision of technical employees.
  • Project Management skills are a plus.
  • Candidates local to the Detroit Metro area are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This Senior Chemist role is responsible for conducting research, analysis and experimentation to formulate materials used in final assembly of automotive windshields. This individual will work closely with customers, materials engineers, sales, purchasing and internal development staff to develop and formulate specific product, manufacturing process standards and direct scale-up activities. Preparing technical reports and maintaining the project and product database will be needed as well.
